The following are a sample of the poems
that I have written over the years. Suggestions for
improvements are always welcome...
My writings are written from my heart, but...
I am sure as most people may realize... life is forever changing,
& what you feel one day, may or may not be the way you feel the next.
Some of my writings I have shaken the cobwebs off...
I have a ton of books with written & half written poems
(hopefully someday I will get to finish them...)
I hope you enjoy the ones I have listed...

SUDDEN STOP!
Heart pounding!
Stillness enters...
Body cold
Can't breathe!
Which way is up
Which way is down
Smothering ~ Smothering
Snow all around!
Trapped in
Icy grave!
Body torn
Full of pain
Memories unfolding
SCREAMING INSIDE!
Paralyzed
Blinded with fear
Thousands of pins... needles
Entering everywhere
Panic sets in
Body numb
Strength leaving
Strength gone
Gasping last breath
Anyone there?
GOD PLEASE!
PULL ME OUT!
by Bev Baker
They say you have to hit bottom
before you can climb back again.
...
ALONE
Sometimes I wonder
Has life forgotten me
I am still here, still alive
In my little space
Don't forget me
I want to live
Beyond my little space
I want life to find me
I want to be happy
I want to live
I have so much to give
Don't forget me
Find me . . .
I want to live! I want to live!

THE EYE IS DEAFENING
Have you ever
Gotten the eye
The one that says
Everything but nothing
The one that speaks
But tells you not too
Till eventually
You never say a word
That sound is deafening
Have you ever
Heard it?
Seen it?
I think-
That is why I enjoy
Writing so much
It gives my brain a rest
I get to speak
Even when
I am not
Suppose too
My pen/paper
Speaks
But yet-
Don't make a sound
The eye is deafening
I know...
I have heard it
I have seen it
Many times

SHOULDERS OF A STRANGER
A stranger
Held my hand
Guided me into laughter
Never before felt
Never thought possible
On the shoulders of a stranger
You are a stranger
No more
Now you are
My dearest friend
On the shoulders of a stranger
My life Began
Again...

MY HEART BREAKS
MY HEART BREAKS!
Every week you
Seem to get
Worse
MY HEART BREAKS!
You used to change
My diapers now
I change
Yours
MY HEART BREAKS!
You used to be
So full of
Life
MY HEART BREAKS!
You used to tuck
Me in at
Night
MY HEART BREAKS!
I used to be your child
Now you are
Mine
MY HEART BREAKS!
It's so hard too
Watch you
Slowly
Die
MY HEART BREAKS!
There is nothing I can do
I tell you I love you
As I tuck
You
In
MY HEART BREAKS!
A hundred times a day
I see it in your eyes
I feel your
Pain
MY HEART ACHES
Every day
Every
Night

LONELY FACES
I go past many rooms
Lonely faces look back at me
Chills go down my spine
Part of me is dying inside
I fight my tears
Don't want to leave you here
My heart pains
My heart pounds
I wonder...
How can I leave you here?
You look at me with searching eyes
You hope that I know best
I don't know- I don't know!
Tonight will be a cold night
Alone -You- Me-
You search my eyes, I search myself
My heart pains
I know, nothing will ever be the same
God help us through this pain
I think of you with strangers
My heart breaks
My thoughts... Won't leave me alone
I feel, I've given up my child
I Pray, I Hope
Am I doing what's best?
I kiss you
I hug you
I Leave the room
Find a quiet place
I cry... I cry...
by Beverly Baker
I wrote this poem
when I put my mom in a hospital (home-care)...
she was just too sick for me to look after her anymore.
One of the hardest things I ever had to do.
She was my best friend.

PASSING OUT FLOWERS
I have seen the smiles
Of the young
Dance across the faces
Of the old
Then slowly fade into the unknown
Leaving a fog like cloud
On the brain of the young
While they bury their dead
~
Moving slowly from grave to grave
Left to treasure memories
Now an empty hole of loneliness
Once filled with hugs and kisses
Now an empty ache engulfs
This living soul
Walking amongst the graves
Passing out flowers
Hoping somehow
You know
How much you're loved
~
I have seen the smiles
Of the old
Dance across the faces
Of the young
Engulfing the living soul with sadness
Then slowly fade
Then slowly fade...

FIELDS OF LAUGHTER
Fields of laughter all around
Dancing and prancing
Without any bounds
Like a dog off a leash
Flowers under feet
Grass getting higher
Entangling my feet
Tripping me up

..Reality...

My leash getting tighter
My trail left behind
In a distance I still hear
Fields of laughter
by Beverly J Baker
sometimes freedom just dances around you...
sometimes you get to taste it just for a little while.

SOMETHING CATCHES MY EYE...
Storm clouds gathering
Ready to do another dance
I watch through my patio door
~
For fun
I blow up a rainbow balloon
Step outside
Let it go, into the storm
Make a wish ~ I smile
Watch it go high
Past neighbours houses
I watch till it's out of sight
~
Breaths, deep breaths
Soaking up my surroundings
Letting the wind slide over my body
Deep breaths, makes me feel alive
Rain bounces off my skin
Now running down
Dripping, soaking wet
I feel alive! I feel alive!
~
I spin around
No one can see me here
I thank God for that
Others would think I'm crazy
So many signs God sends
I wake in the morning
Everything is calm
Past my patio door
Something catches my eye
~
I laugh...
For what catches my eye
I find hard to believe
The rainbow balloon
Has come back to me

MOLLY
Years ago
A neighbour had a cat named Molly
She followed her owner everywhere
Slept by her feet
Wherever you saw her
You'd be sure Molly was close by
As they aged together
The woman became sick
But as always
Molly slept by her feet
~
One morning when Molly awoke
She found that
The kind old woman
Had passed away
~
The wake held in the house
People coming and going
Poor Molly seemed lost
Going in and out their feet
Sometimes someone would rub her
Send her on her way
Before the woman was buried
A friend came fixed her blanket
Said their goodbyes
They had the funeral
~
A few days later
They remembered the cat
Family searched everywhere
Molly was never to be found

I do not understand
I heard a story
Of this fisherman
He watches seagulls, overhead...
Landing on his boat
Smiling, he catches one
Ties a rock around his legs
Looks in his eyes
Says his goodbyes
Throws him overboard
Just to watch him sink
How do some find this funny?
I do not understand
How can one be so cruel?
To watch...To cause...
No matter what life
To Die

STRANGE CREATURES ARE WE?
(We meaning everyone worldwide)
What if?
These force fed chicken
Cows- whatever you prefer
Looked cuddly
Like rabbit, seal
Even cat or dog
Would you still eat it?
Does looks, make it hurt any less?
How do anyone... anywhere
Kill in a humane way- What is humane?
When it comes to animals
Most are hypocrites!
WE LOVE YOU!
But we want to eat
Your flesh!

I was on two minds about listing the following poem...
But I felt compelled to do so.
I just want to remind everyone that there has been children murdered/missing over the years, & the killer(s) have not been caught ...yet...
WHAT NUMBER OF DEAD CHILDREN IS TOO MANY?
NO MORE BIRTHDAYS
NO MORE SMILES
NO MORE DANCING IN THE AISLES
~
Your brain must have no mirrors
Your heart tarnished evil black
You plague our world
You disgust us
You ooze of blackest black
You slither like a snake
Squeal like a rat!
You steal, rape, torture our children
We want our justice back!
~
We hear those children's screams each night
We listen to their cries
We listen to their stories, untold...
We listen to his lies
Our hearts carry a burden
When will you strike again?
How do we stop you?
Where does it end?
~
You're protected by our laws!
You cover your ass very well
I picture your icy blue eyes
and your slimy little grin
Looking through your window
Looking for your next victim
~
Our children seem forgotten
Their voices seem unheard
Don't let your children out of sight
There is a predator still at large
Predators seek the weak!
We need to be strong!
~
The pain is never ending!
The tears go on and on...

Lost
As I search the pages
Seeking me
All I see is a reflection
Of you

Joined at the heart
My heart throbs
When I see you
Just when I think
It is over
You find me
My heart explodes
I try to hide
My love
But, I can not
The tears
The love in my heart
Can not find an end
This circle
I fear
This pain
My eternity
by Beverly Baker

Eternity is my love
All of days
All of nights
My dreams
Dream only of you
Even the coldest of days
Even the darkest of nights
Thoughts of you
Warm my heart
I have loved you
Since the beginning
I will embrace you
For all of eternity
As the sea embraces a river
A river embraces the sea
Forever-Eternally-Drawn
Becoming one...
All eternity
I will love thee
For one lifetime
Is not enough
My love for you
Is eternity
Eternity is
My love

I Still Look Behind
How I long for your embrace
The comfort not felt since
I still look behind
Playing with my heartstrings
Each cord struck
Pain don't fade
It becomes A BLAZING ROAR!
To remain, the ache
To endure, forevermore
If backwards I could only go
But forward motion I cannot stop
A memory as I look behind
Another tear drops
Oh God!
How I long! As I look behind
Please forgive
My thoughts

Sometimes I feel nothing
I can not force you
To love me
But, there are many times
I wish I could have
Maybe the love I feel
Is just my imagination
Maybe the love I feel
Do not exist
Then I would feel nothing
Only total loneliness
As if a universe of nothings
Had fallen upon me
If this were to be true
I would rather live
In my many dreams of you
For I would rather believe
True love really do exist
That way the loneliness
That surrounds me
Will never actually reach me
For the loneliness
I cannot bear
I will live
The rest of my days
With you beside me
If only-
In my head
Not a day goes by
That I don't think of you
And when you think of me
I can feel you
I swear, I can feel you
Without you
The pain burns deeply
I rather you live
In my imagination
Than not be part of me at all
I thought we would last
I guess that was my imagination
But, how I do love
My many dreams of you
When true love happens
A bond happens
And when it breaks
It never truly breaks
Sometimes I feel
Nothing
As if a universe of nothings
Had fallen upon me
Then I dream of you

SING WITH ME
Let me sing you a love song
About what I feel in my heart
Butterflies can't find nector
When you depart
You are a flower in bloom
In the dark... In the gloom...
You are the one
You brighten my day
How many ways do I need you?
Everyday... Everyway...
Come what may

JOKES...
Hope you enjoy the following joke
My friend Chris sent in this one to share...
100 MPH Goat
Two Tennessee rednecks are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground.
They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.
The first hunter says, "Wow, that's some hole;
I can't even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is."
The second hunter says," I don't know, let's throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom."
The first hunter says, "There's this old automobile transmission here, give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see".
So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole.
They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the brush behind them.
As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole and with no hesitation, jump in head first.
While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up.
"Say there," says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?"
The first hunter says, " Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin'
about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!"
The old farmer said, "That's impossible.
I had him chained to a transmission!"
(The author unknown-
Thank you Chris for sharing)

Shampoo alert!
As I was conditioning my hair in the shower this morning, I took time to read my shampoo bottle. I am in shock! The shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my entire body says "for extra volume and body"! Seriously, why have I not noticed this before? Now I understand why I am so "full-figured"! Tomorrow I am going to start using "Dawn" dish soap. It says right on the label "dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove." It pays to read the warning labels, my friends!
Thank you, to my friend Gerry, for sharing this very important message... I am sure Dawn dish soap sales are about to increase drastically. hehehe

My friend Jerry shared this one with me.
I thought it was so cute, I decided to share it with you. The author unknown- thank you for sharing...
A smile - is a sign of joy.
A hug - is a sign of love.
A laugh - is a sign of happiness.
And a friend like me??
...that's just a sign of good taste!!
Have a great day! Take care
